SOUTH SUDAN 4 FIELDS DISCIPLESHIP 3 DAY WORKSHOP WITH TOM OPONDO AND THE KENYAN GOSPEL CHARIOT
Amen. Tom has reported the following from South Sudan.
We are thankful for the 3 day Disciple Multiplication workshop held in Aweil Mission Center. The initial plan was to capture over 150 evangelists from Northern Bahr el Gazel (Aweil), but due to travel challenges we reduced the attendance to slightly above 50. We couldn’t turn away evangelists who appeared on the morning of March 3 for the training. The training began on March 3 and ended on March 5 with daily attendance of 68-70. This affected our initial plans for workshop materials and meals. Thanks to Paulino Malou and Joseph Wel my former students who have put themselves on line as our point men in Disciple Multiplication Training.
We are sorry that brother Dimpo Motimele couldn’t make it to South Sudan for the training. When we received news of his family bereaved, what we could do was to lift him and Kagiso to the Lord for comfort. We continually pray for brother. On this note, we plan a follow up meeting in Juba where Dimpo will connect with the disciplers as we focus North.
Why insist on South Sudan? It’s strategic for moving northwards especially two spaces: Sudan and Egypt where there are spots of Churches of Christ congregations in both Khartoum and Cairo.
Brothers using South Sudan as springboard to the North Africa field will expose us to certain hard decisions. One great challenge is the terrible road, and absence of peaceful travel across South Sudan by road. It’s a young nation where systems still don’t work. At one point we wanted to turn back, but the Lord encouraged us to keep pushing. We reached and we say what we have seen.
We encouraged the trainees to take the message of Disciple Making to the deepest villages and northwards. We’ll keep them in prayers and keep refreshing them on Disciple Multiplication zoom forums.
Thanks as we keep North Africa into consideration.
Amen Tom. Well said. Thank You Lord and thank you all involved
